Who We Are & Why We Exist
Our Mission
The mission of the Windermere Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is to help every person in our community develop an accurate, meaningful knowledge of Jehovah God and his purposes as revealed in the Bible. We believe that true knowledge of God is not reserved for the few — it is available to anyone willing to honestly examine Scripture.
We fulfill this mission through free, personal Bible education programs, congregation meetings open to the public, and a ministry that reaches neighbours, coworkers, and friends throughout southwest Edmonton. Our approach is always respectful, non-pressured, and centred entirely on what the Bible says rather than human tradition.
We are also deeply committed to one another. Our mission includes building a congregation family where every member is genuinely cared for — practically, emotionally, and spiritually — in every season of life.
Our Vision
Our ultimate vision is one we did not author ourselves — it is God's own stated purpose: a renewed earth where sickness, war, injustice, and grief are permanently removed, and where humanity lives in harmony under the loving governance of God's Kingdom. This is not myth or metaphor. It is the central promise of the Bible, and it shapes everything about how we live today.
In practical terms, our vision for the Windermere congregation is a community where every individual — families, seniors, youth, newcomers to Edmonton — can find genuine purpose, authentic friendship, and a clear understanding of why they are alive and where history is heading.
We envision our Kingdom Hall as a lighthouse in Terwillegar and the surrounding neighbourhoods: a place where people come with real questions and leave with real answers, where burdens are shared and joy multiplied, and where the values of the coming Kingdom — love, truth, justice, and peace — are practiced right now in our relationships with one another.
What Guides Us
Six values drawn from Scripture define how we treat each other, how we engage our community, and how we approach every aspect of congregational life.
We are committed to honest, accurate understanding of Scripture — never shaping the message to suit convenience or popularity.
Genuine, self-sacrificing love — for God, for our congregation family, and for every neighbour and stranger — is the hallmark of our community.
We treasure the family unit as a divine institution. We actively support marriages, parent-child bonds, and the spiritual wellbeing of every household.
We invest in the Windermere and Terwillegar neighbourhoods, contributing positively through education, character, and a spirit of service.
The Bible's promise of God's Kingdom is a living hope that sustains our members through hardship and gives profound meaning to daily life.
We uphold honesty in every relationship — with God, with one another, and with our broader community. Our word is our bond.
"This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ."— John 17:3 (New World Translation)
