What We Believe
Faith Founded on Scripture
Jehovah's Witnesses base every belief directly on the Bible. We do not rely on human philosophy, denominational tradition, or church councils. If the Bible says it, we accept it. If it does not, we do not add to it. Below are the foundational beliefs that define our faith and daily life.
We believe that the entire Bible — all 66 books — is the inspired Word of Jehovah God. Written by approximately 40 human writers over 1,600 years, the Bible's internal harmony and fulfilled prophecies confirm its divine origin. We use it as the ultimate authority for faith and conduct. The Bible is not merely a historical document; it is a living guide that answers life's most pressing questions with clarity and compassion.
We believe in one God — Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) — the Almighty Creator of the universe and the loving Father of all who seek Him. Jehovah is not a distant, unknowable force; He is a personal God with a name, with feelings, and with a deep interest in each human being. He is the source of all love, wisdom, and justice. We believe it is both possible and important to develop a genuine, personal relationship with our Creator.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God — distinct from the Father — and that his sacrificial death provides the basis for the forgiveness of sins and the hope of everlasting life (John 3:16). Jesus is our Lord, our High Priest, and the King of God's Kingdom. His resurrection proves that God's promises of life are real. We honour Jesus deeply, though we direct our worship exclusively to Jehovah God, as Jesus himself instructed.
We believe that God's Kingdom is a real heavenly government that will soon replace all human governments on earth (Daniel 2:44). Under this Kingdom, Jesus Christ will rule as King, bringing an end to war, poverty, crime, and death. This is not allegory — it is the primary theme of the Bible and the ultimate answer to the problems that human rulers have consistently failed to solve. The good news of this Kingdom is what Jehovah's Witnesses proclaim worldwide.
We believe that the family was designed by God and functions best when its members apply Bible principles. Husbands are called to love their wives with self-sacrificing devotion; wives are encouraged to work in loving partnership with their husbands; children are to be raised with warmth, clear values, and genuine spiritual guidance. We actively help congregation members strengthen their family relationships through practical Bible-based counsel and congregation programs for all age groups.
We believe that human life is a sacred gift from God. This conviction shapes how we treat others, how we conduct ourselves in business and civic life, and how we approach medical, ethical, and social decisions. We are known for our neutrality in political and military conflicts — not from apathy, but because we believe God's Kingdom is the only lasting solution to the world's deep divisions. We respect every person's freedom of conscience and worship.
We believe in the Bible's clear promise of a resurrection — that countless millions who have died will be brought back to life on a paradise earth (Acts 24:15). This hope removes the sting of death and gives profound meaning to the lives of those who grieve. For faithful ones alive at Armageddon, and for those resurrected afterward, the prospect is everlasting life in perfect health, meaningful work, and loving relationships in a global paradise — just as God originally intended for Adam and Eve.
