About Our Congregation

Who We Are

A Family of Faith in Southwest Edmonton

The Windermere Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is a registered Canadian charitable organization (No. 744218710RR0001) serving the rapidly growing Windermere, Terwillegar, and Summerside communities in southwest Edmonton, Alberta.

We are a congregation of ordinary people — teachers, tradespeople, healthcare workers, retirees, young families, and students — united by an extraordinary shared purpose: to know Jehovah God, to live by His Word, and to share the good news of His Kingdom with everyone willing to listen.

Our congregation is joyfully diverse, reflecting the multicultural fabric of Edmonton itself. Many languages are spoken among our members, yet we are bound together by one faith, one hope, and one God.

Our Journey

A Growing Congregation in a Growing City

Early 2000s

Roots in Southwest Edmonton

As Edmonton's Windermere and Terwillegar neighbourhoods began to grow rapidly, a small group of Jehovah's Witnesses from the area began meeting together to serve the local community more effectively.

Congregation Formation

Officially Established

The Windermere Congregation was formally established, providing a dedicated local meeting point for families and individuals in the southwest quadrant of Edmonton — reducing long commutes to other congregations and enabling more focused local ministry.

Kingdom Hall

A Home at Terwillegar Common

The congregation established its permanent home at 4804 Terwillegar Common NW — a well-appointed Kingdom Hall designed for worship, Bible education, and community gatherings, accessible to the entire surrounding area.

Today

Thriving & Growing

The Windermere Congregation continues to grow alongside one of Edmonton's fastest-expanding residential communities. Our members actively serve their neighbours through personal Bible education and the values of love, honesty, and integrity they practice every day.

Leadership Structure

Shepherded by Elders, Guided by Scripture

The Windermere Congregation is led by a body of congregation elders — mature, spiritually qualified men who serve voluntarily without any salary or financial compensation. Elders are appointed based on Bible qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1: not by popular vote or administrative title, but by demonstrated spiritual maturity, love for people, and skill in teaching.

Ministerial servants assist the elders in the practical day-to-day operations of the congregation, ensuring meetings run smoothly and that every member's needs are attended to.

Ultimately, all congregation direction flows from the Bible itself — specifically, the guidance provided through the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, which functions as a modern-day equivalent of the first-century governing body described in Acts 15.
